The chapter has defined and explored five major perspectives that are of use to Early Years workers. Examples of specific therapies have been provided and there has been a critical appraisal of each of the therapies. It may be argued that the best way to apply psychology to Early Years is to combine the perspectives and their therapies in such a way that the complex needs of individuals are more likely to be met. If this is done, it produces an holistic approach to meeting individual needs. If these therapies are combined with other perspectives from health and counselling there is the further likelihood that our understanding of child development can be enhanced.
