FU’s Rama and George hit the road with Japanese legends Shonen Knife for the European leg of their ‘Pop Tune’ 2012 tour.
We played gigs in Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland and had a wonderful time with Naoko, Ritsuko, Emi knife, and Ian our Driver.

Ritsuko played bass with us on Blue Fugue at the Bastard Bar in Tromso which is on the top of Norway and a beautiful place with very warm and happy people. That was maybe the highlight, but seeing our friends Rune,  Milla, Gerben, Jeroen and Tom was so nice. Huge thanks to the promoters and people that bought our records and asked us to sign them and to Canopus Drums who supported us.

At Loppen in Copenhagen we picked up a great review which you can read here in Gaffa and you can see a load of pictures from the tour on our facebook page here.

The Italian’s particularly enjoyed ‘Chilli Linguine’

The FU solo in Italy was so incredible. The people and food were amazing and the scenary on the road to Terni was so spectacular.

Many thanks to Alessia and her family and friends for hosting me and Paolo for booking and driving and Aldo, Roberto and Emilano for being so cool.

We’ll have some gigs and Tour Dates for Sept/Oct.

Tue, 28 Aug 2012 Tours, Update

FU had a great time in 2011 and we’ve worked up a couple new/new old songs for live shows and just finishing off some recording for our first proper band EP.

We tried out ‘Post-Card’ at the Bitch Magnet show, at the Lexington and it went down well. We’ll add in Exit Interview next time.

Those Bitch Magnet guys were so great and such nice people. We hung out for a few nights until 4am with them and smallgang. I drank at least 400 pints. Orestes their super drummer was impressed with Rama’s complex drumming. FU really feels good as a band now.

Our Label Damnably is working on a Wussy release and has a new and very lovely Geoff Farina album out on Feb 27th.

Me (George) and Russ posted our best of/worst of lists for Damnably’s blog along with Shonen Knife, smallgang, Wussy, American Werewolf Academy and Chris Brokaw and Geoff Farina. Have a look at them here

I’ll be DJing at the new Damnably gig which is also at the Lexington on March 9th with Versus from New York – who have not played the UK since 1996. Our new friends Plaided will be flying over from Vienna to join as pport along with smallgang. It’ll be a magical show for sure and Sab and I will DJ some new music – not unlike what you will hear in the all NEW Damnably Radio podcast below.

Advance tickets are here

We’ll have some more live shows soon.

Sat, 28 Jan 2012 Gigs, Update

We proudly supported our labelmates Shonen Knife at The Scala in London with smallgang and slowgun and the show SUPERROCKED thanks to all the bands being on top form and a great Sound guy called Sean Richards (usually works for Boredoms and big bands) plus a huge friendly audience.
